It's official! I'm the real deal artist behind Artistic Alexis! I create because I genuinely cannot imagine my life without art. It’s not just something I do, it’s what keeps me grounded, focused, and fulfilled.

What started as something that made me happy quickly became something that brought joy to others too. From the moment I began drawing portraits, I became obsessed with getting every detail right, pushing myself until the work matched the vision in my head.

Art has always been my constant. Even as a kid, I chose drawing over everything else. That hasn’t changed. It’s my purpose to continue creating, evolving, and building something meaningful through my work.

My background in art comes from years of hands-on experience, learning through continuous practice, experimentation, and growth. I’m primarily self-taught, developing my skills through trial and error and a strong attention to detail.

I also studied graphic design at Russell Sage College, where I built a foundation in layout, composition, color theory, and visual communication. In addition, I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Communications from The College of Saint Rose, which strengthened my ability to understand branding, messaging, and how to connect with an audience through creative work.

I take every project seriously and strive to create work that reflects both my standards and the vision of the client.

My Journey

Portrait drawing has always fascinated me because I believe you never truly understand the human face until you draw it. Every portrait challenges me in precision, proportion, and observation. A single misplaced feature can completely shift an expression, which is what makes the process both demanding and rewarding. Through years of being self-taught, I’ve trained myself to study every detail with intention, from the structure of the eyes and mouth to the subtle balance between color, light, and texture.

What excites me most is beginning each piece completely from scratch. I love the feeling right before I start a drawing, the excitement of knowing I’m about to build something entirely by hand without shortcuts, tracing, or grid methods. Once pencil meets paper, it becomes precision over everything. I take pride in accuracy, patience, and constantly pushing myself to improve with every portrait I create.

I believe people naturally connect with people, which is why portrait art carries so much emotion. A face can communicate personality, vulnerability, strength, and story in a single frozen moment. Through wrinkles, expressions, hair texture, clothing, and small imperfections, portrait drawing transforms a photograph into something slower, more thoughtful, and deeply personal. It allows me to study a person beyond the surface and recreate their essence through art.

Portraiture has also shaped the way I see creativity as a whole. I truly believe that once you learn to master the portrait, you train your eye to notice detail in everything around you. From facial structure to fabric texture and hair movement, portrait drawing teaches patience, observation, and creative discipline. That constant challenge is what keeps me inspired and why I use Artistic Alexis to share the joy, growth, and passion that art brings into my life.

Artistic Alexis started in 2013 when I was 13 years old. The name came naturally because creating has always been a part of who I am. Over time, that identity grew into something much bigger than just a hobby. It became something I knew I had to pursue seriously.

I’m a self-taught artist with experience across multiple forms of art including portrait drawing, painting, scrapbooking, and graphic design. I’ve always refused to limit myself to one style or category, which is why my work continues to evolve in different directions.

my mission statement

I’m also proud to represent my background as a Latina artist from Upstate New York, with roots in Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Scotland, and more. I want my work to reflect individuality, culture, and authenticity, and to inspire others to embrace their own creativity.

I strongly believe in creating real, human-made art. While technology continues to evolve, I choose to keep my work rooted in authenticity. Every piece I create is made with intention, skill, and personal attention to detail.

The work continues because it has to. Art is not something I can step away from, it’s something I continue to grow with over time.

As the world changes, I remain focused on creating work that is real, intentional, and made with care. I want to keep pushing my limits, exploring new ideas, and expanding what I’m capable of as an artist.

More than anything, I hope my work inspires others to create, to try something new, and to hold onto what makes them feel passionate and driven.

Alexis

xoxo,

And, well, that’s me in a nutshell.
